How to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication, or MFA, is required when accessing the urfuture platform. To complete the sign-in process, users must have an authenticator app installed on a mobile device. The app generates a secure verification code that is entered alongside the user’s email address and password.
What is MFA?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is one of the most effective ways to protect online accounts from unauthorised access. It requires users to verify their identity using two or more authentication methods, making it significantly harder for attackers to gain access.
Please note:
You cannot access the platform without the authenticator app.
urfuture recommends using the Google Authenticator app.
Why It Matters
Passwords can be guessed, stolen, or exposed through phishing attacks and data breaches. MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring additional proof of identity, such as a code from an authenticator app, a fingerprint, or a hardware security key.
This means that a compromised password alone is no longer enough to access an account.
Key Benefits
- Protects against stolen passwords from phishing attacks or data breaches.
- Strengthens security for remote access to business systems and cloud services.
- Helps safeguard sensitive data by preventing unauthorised logins.
MFA codes are not sent by email or text message. We recommend using Google Authenticator.
Never share your password, QR code, or authenticator code with anyone. The urfuture team will never ask you to provide a live authentication code.
Setting Up MFA
When signing in for the first time:
- Enter your email address and password.
- The platform will display a QR code.
- Download & open the authenticator app on your mobile phone.
- Select the option to add a new account.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the platform.
- The authenticator app will generate a 6-digit verification code.
- Enter the code into the platform.
- Complete the verification process.
Once completed, your account will be connected to the authenticator app.
Signing In
Each time MFA verification is required:
- Enter your email address and password.
- Open the authenticator app on your mobile phone.
- Find your urfuture account.
- Enter the current 6-digit verification code.
- Select Verify or Sign in.
The verification code changes regularly, so always use the latest code shown in the app.
Authentication Code Not Working?
If the code is not accepted:
- Check that you are entering the latest code.
- Make sure you have selected the correct account in the authenticator app.
- Confirm that the date and time on your phone are set to update automatically.
- Wait for a new code to appear and try again.
- Close and reopen the authenticator app if needed.
New or Replacement Phone
If you are changing phones, the authenticator app may need to be set up again.
Where possible, complete the transfer before removing access from your old phone.
If you no longer have access to the original device, contact your Platform Administrator or the urfuture Support Team to request an MFA reset.
If your phone is lost, unavailable, or the authenticator app has been deleted:
- Do not create another platform account.
- Contact your Platform Administrator or the urfuture Support Team.
- Request an MFA reset.
- Complete any required identity or account verification.
- Set up the authenticator app again when instructed.
