How to create a candidate persona

A candidate persona defines the ideal person for ur role. Rather than relying on CV keywords alone, urfuture uses your candidate persona to understand the behaviours, motivations, skills, and requirements that predict success in the role. Creating an accurate persona helps ensure candidates are matched based on potential and fit, giving you higher-quality shortlists while providing a fairer and more consistent hiring process.

Step 1: Navigate to Candidate Personas

On the left hand side, select Candidate Personas and click Create New Persona.

If you've created personas before, you can also duplicate and edit an existing one.

 Step 2: Name Ur Persona

Give ur persona a clear, recognisable name.

For example:

  • Customer Service Advisor
  • Sales Executive
  • Engineer
  • Software Developer
  • Marketing Executive

This makes it easy to reuse personas across multiple vacancies and saves you time when posting a role.

You can include any other job titles that this persona could be used for and enter a brief description of the job so other users can understand what roles the persona could be used for.

Step 3: Select Ur Working Traits

We recommend choosing between 5-8 working traits as this will give the best outcome. Prioritise traits that reflect the skills and real day-to-day demands of the job, rather than selecting traits based on the apprenticeship route itself.

Also, ensure that you use a mix of all 4 different types of working traits:

  • Basic Job Requirements

  • Job Motivators

  • Job Personality Match

  • Job Satisfaction

Step 4: Select Skills Families

Skills families is optional, however they are pulled from the career category and will boost a candidates job score if they have any of the skills that you have selected such as 'Repair and Maintenance Help', a candidate might have experience helping with small repairs or cleaning/checking equipment, which might be relevant to the role and make them a better match. This will never reduce a candidates job match score if they don't have any of the skills you have selected, only boost it if they do!

Step 5: Select Software Tools

Select any software or tools that would be useful in this role. Simply search for the tool name and add as many as you like.
Having experience with these tools will increase a candidate’s job match score, but not having them will never reduce it.

Step 6: Select Interests

Select interests that would be an advantage for this role. These reflect what someone enjoys or is motivated by in their work.
You can choose as many as you like, having aligned interests will increase a candidate’s job match score, but not having them will never reduce it.

Step 7: Finally Save Your Persona

Save your persona! Now when you post a job you will be able to select one of your saved personas, which will save you time each time you post!
